Guitar Lesson Policies & Guidelines
Welcome! To ensure a smooth, productive, and enjoyable learning experience for every student, please review the studio policies below.
Communication
-
All communication regarding lessons, recording sessions, and performances must be directed through the website contact page, via email at jonwandsmusic@gmail.com, or by phone at (732) 318-5919.
-
Standard hours for lesson communication are 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
Location & Setup
-
Lessons are currently conducted at the student's home.
-
Please ensure appropriate parking accommodations are available close to the entrance, as teaching and audio equipment cannot be carried long distances.
Trial Lesson
-
A one-time trial lesson is available for prospective incoming students.
-
The trial lesson lasts 30 minutes and provides a brief overview and insight into the structure and approach of ongoing lessons.
Tuition & Payment
-
Tuition is based on enrollment rather than individual attendance.
-
Payment for each month’s worth of lessons (calculated at one lesson per week) is due in advance, beginning after the initial trial lesson.
-
Accepted payment methods include cash, check, and Venmo. Please make checks payable to Jonathan Wands.
Attendance & Cancellations
-
If you have a scheduled lesson and become unavailable, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid the forfeiture of that lesson's payment.
Lesson Materials
-
Physical copies of exercises, song charts, and study materials will be provided for each lesson topic.
-
It is the student’s responsibility to keep and organize these materials in a dedicated binder or folder. If items are lost or damaged, replacement copies can be provided with advance notice prior to the next lesson.
Equipment Requirements
-
Each student must provide their own instrument and necessary accessories. This includes a guitar, an amplifier (for electric guitars), a tuner, a strap, picks, and spare strings.
-
Due to travel limitations, I may not be able to provide backup gear or accessories on-site.
Student Expectations & Practice Guidelines
What to Expect
-
Every session is designed to be an insightful, personalized lesson tailored specifically to your goals, playing style, and musical interests.
The Importance of Practice
-
Growth as a musician relies heavily on what happens outside of our scheduled time. Consistent, diligent practice is imperative and directly produces results; without it, true progress cannot happen.
-
To keep moving forward, students are expected to practice the topics and exercises reviewed during their lessons. If the required material has not been practiced, we will need to dedicate time to go over it again before advancing to new concepts.
